Wine label checklist: what to capture before the bottle is empty
A thirty-second label routine saves hours of guessing later.
Must-have shots
- Front label (producer and wine name)
- Back label if it lists region, blend, or importer
- Barcode or SKU if present (helps disambiguate look-alikes)
Jot these fields
- Vintage year
- Where you bought or drank it
- Your rating and one-line takeaway
When scanning fails
Type the producer and wine name manually. Add a photo anyway; OCR and search get better, but your memory does not.
